A VISIT TO GULMARG
Kashmir has a number of attractions. Gulmarg is a something very special,particularly in winter. it is situated at a distance of about 57 kilometres from srinagar ,in baramulla district. this is a bowl-shaped place.
It overlooks the kashmir valley.it stretches over an area of about 3.5 sq km .the place has attractions for the adventurous as well asfor those who loved to relax.during summer ,the wild flower in the lush green meadows are really fantastic.winter changes gulmarg into a white wonderland. Atan altitudes of 4,730 metres. gulmarg seems to be draped in white satin.Journey to gulmarg is enchanting. Road bordered with popular trees give way to field.visitors come here to ski.usually covered in 22-25ft of soft snow, the place has some of the best and higest ski slopes in the world for beginners as well as experienced skiers.The afarar hills slopes offer a 5-km run for the adventurous skiers. from the peak it is possible to glide over a couple of kilometers in either direction before descending the mountains.
I Gulmargs 18-holes golf course is a popular attraction during summers.it is ideal for cross-country ski-training. there is also sledging .we can sit in a sledge and gravity can take us down the slopes. there are also tobaggoning ,snow-scooters and snow bobbing,which do not require any skill. Nearby sights are khilanmarg, kongdori,seven spring andf alpather lake and the picturesque alpine lake.slightly lower than gulmarg is the shrine of BABA reshi, a mystic saints.Gulmarg has enough attractions to keep us rooted to its picturesque slopes.
